us, they may seem like boats with swan-shapes attached, but
to a child, they are pages from a fairy tale as they glide over
the silent pond of Boston's famous Public Garden. These swan
boats have enchanted young and old for over 100 years.
In 1877, "Admiral" Robert Paget concealed the new
bicycle propulsion technique within a swan and offered boat
rides to the public. |
