Ever
since the first edition of this card appeared in 1992, dozens
of people have told Karen they recognized the man in the middle.
'That's my father,' many have said. Or 'He was my grandfather.
' Maybe you recognize someone in him too. It's a good feeling
to be part of such an all-American holiday. When the bunting
goes up, the store's Fourth-of-July festivities are never far
behind.
Built in 1852 as a Universalist church, within a decade it had
become a general store, and it has thrived in that role for
over 135 years.
The Brewster Store offers a visual and educational feast of
antique fixtures, machinery, and memorabilia, with a wide variety
of items to delight shoppers of all ages. The main floor features
coffee and doughnuts, groceries, toys, and necessities. The
Upper Hall is filled with fine gifts. The Brewster Scoop, underneath
the store, is open summers to satisfy everyone's taste for ice
cream. |
