If
you take the brief ferry ride southward from Woods Hole on the
mainland, and then go as far west as you can, one of the last
places you'll find is the tiny fishing village of Menemsha.
Battered for hundreds of years by storms and hard times, battered
now by tourists as well, Menemsha still has much of its 19th
century charm as Karen found when she set her chopper down right
here on the store jetty and dashed off this amazing watercolor.
Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard are the islands that lie off
the south shore of Cape Cod, Massachusetts. (The Vineyard is
the one on the west and is famous for its vacationing celebrities
like the Clintons, reclusive Jackie-O, Carly Simon, Art Buchwalds,
and Walter Cronkite.) |
